Stan and Jenny's Story

On this web site you will be able to follow our adventures as we travel around Australia with our dogs Shakira and Ellie. This will be our second trip around so we will be doing things a little differently, going to places never visited, revisiting places and friends made before and calling on friends who live in areas we have never been.

Instead of the old camper trailer and GQ Patrol we have been lucky enough to upgrade to what we consider to be luxury. Now have our new Option RV Caravan which is 22ft internally and has everything we would want. Still has some off road capability so won't miss out on those out of the way places. If we decide to go right off road have our tent and general camping gear. Will be towing with a new Nissan Navara which has had all the good bits added for making the trip easy.

With all the extra space the first thing we are doing is making sure we don't over do it with taking unnecessary gear. (You never know when you might need it!!!) Did that last time and will probably do it again!!!! Check the side of the road for stuff we have thrown out!!!

To kick things off we are doing what we have called our “farewell tour”, visiting family and friends in Hervey Bay (Glenn, Jan and kids), Yeppoon (Leigh), Kingaroy (Keith and Di), Gold Coast (Scott, Tracy, Russell, Zara, Gracie and everyone else) and Stanthorpe before heading to the Tamworth Country Music Festival. This will give us time to sort out the car and van of any bugs and also get to know how it all works. Make sure the satellite box is working so not to miss any footy.

Most of this trip we will be in company of friends Barry and Denise but we also have plans to meet up with other longtime friends Jim and Helen, Bevan and Ros and Phil and Barb at various places and times.

Plans are to have a week in Tasmania then a couple of weeks in the Victorian High Country before we head to South Australia then up the middle across the top and down the west coast. Doesn't sound much when said like that but there will be no timetable or set itinery so this trip could take awhile especially if we stay longer at places because we enjoy them.

Hope to do a lot of fishing and catch a barra or two (Stan that is, Jenny has), deep sea fishing in Broome, Exmouth, Dampier, Albany and Eyre Peninsular. Got the tinnie for anywhere else.
