Icefields Parkway from Jasper

Just before we reached Jasper we stopped at the Maligne Canyon. It is unusual because the river flows from Maligne Lake, in a mighty torrent into Medicine Lake BUT it does not appear to flow out again. The river erodes the limestone of the valley as it travels, forming a smooth, steep walled canyon.   Select the photo below to see deep down into the canyon below where I am standing on the bridge.
