We decided to do the Mt Coolum climb to see the HMAS Brisbane being sunk to create of a new artificial reef and dive site. It was towed to a spot 4km off the coast from Mudjimba, armed with explosives designed to scuttle it in a way that would ensure it settled upright on the bottom. The climb up Mt Coolum was not long, 800m, but quite steep, 280m high, and took about 40 minutes.
