Fiji Holiday - Viti Levu IslandWe motored for the first part of the journey back down river passed other waterfalls and lush green vegetation. You can see coconut trees and bamboo in the foreground. They still make rafts from the bamboo and use them to transport their crops to the market down river. We saw quite a few laden with bananas and other vegetables being pushed by bamboo pole. All 15 of us piled into one bamboo raft (they are VERY buoyant) just to experience it for 15 minutes then we got back into the motor boats to return to the bus and the 3 hour trip back to Nadi along the Coral Coast. It was a great day and I highly recommend this Jewell Tour. Previous | Album | Next |

NO MORE PHOTOS as we ran out of memory and I forgot the other memory card! We had until 2pm next day until we had to be at the airport so we went to the Garden of the Sleeping Giant which is about 15 minutes drive north of Nadi ($35 return by taxi). It is famous for its orchids and rainforest. It is a bit like walking through the Botanic Gardens at home. When we got back we caught the bus into town and visited the Indian Temple. It is the largest Hindu temple in the Southern Hemisphere and for $3.50 each we were given a personalised tour. Well worth a visit. Remember to tie your hair back and wear something that covers your shoulders (modest dress). No hats or shoes in the temple area. I found a picture of it: We were sad to fly out at 3pm. |
