Flinders Ranges National Park

This large chunk of rock appears to have broken off from somewhere up the rock walls and landed here. Across the road was an information board describing the fossils found in the rocks there. They are the first evidence of multi-cellular animals on Earth and are 550 million years old. The Ediacara fossils look like worms, sea pens and jelly fish and are preserved in the Rawnsley Quartzite.
