Kununurra & Lake Argyle

The Kununurra Diversion Dam was designed to help irrigate the Ivanhoe Plain using water from the Ord River. The 20 gates (you can see 6 here) can be opened or closed to regulate the flow. It is known to have good fishing below the dam for barramundi but you need to watch out for the saltwater crocodiles. we didn't give it a go. next stop was Purnululu National Park (the Bungle Bungles).
