Hawkes Bay to Rotorua, New Zealand

Just outside the Museum, still in Government Gardens, is beautiful Rachel Springs which used to supply the Bath House and now pipes into the nearby Polynesian Spa. You can look (free) but it is too hot to swim in this alkaline spring at 100C! Its Maori name is Whangapipiro and the sign says it was renamed Rachel Pool after Madam Rachel, a notorious English cosmetician who promised youthful complexions because of the softening effect of silica water on the skin.
