Queenstown to Haast Pass, New Zealand

Tomorrow we will head this direction along Lake Wakatipu towards Glenorchy where they made some of the Lord of the Rings movies. Actually there are lots of places in New Zealand laying claim to that honour. Lake Wakatipu also doubled as the famous Scottish Loch Ness in the 2007 film The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep. The lake is known as a finger lake and you can see why as it is relatively narrow but 80 km long, in fact it is New Zealand's longest lake.
