Farewell Spit to Foxton Beach, New Zealand

They find seals along this spit and sometimes there are mass strandings of whales here. But mostly there are birds, over 90 species call this home, some only for parts of the year before they migrate to places like Alaska. Often fur seals come up on the beach here too but we didn't see any today.  Select the photo below to see the view towards the far end of the spit.
