South Burnett Region - Tarong Power Station

The Tarong Power station gets its coal from the Meandu Mine located just west of Nanango & Yarraman. It is an open cut mine. You can see the truck dumping its load of coal onto the conveyor belt where it will go to the stockpile or to the Tarong Power Station 2km away. The conveyor can transport coal at a rate of 1800 tonnes per hour. Remember in the earlier photo the Boondooma Dam 97km away pipes the water to the power station.
