Tasmania Roadtrip - Highland Lakes

Tasmania's first Hydro-electric scheme using the waters from Great Lake was set up in 1910 with a small dam across the Shannon River. Demand for more power resulted in Miena Dam being built in 1923 and a further two dams at Miena in subsequent years and finally raised 6 metres in 1982.
