This is the Cemetery and Memorial of the Ottoman 57th Infantry Regiment. They were first to respond in the 8 month Gallipoli campaign. The Allies were fighting to force Turkey out of the war and open a supply route to Russia through the Dardanelles. Yes Russia was on our side then! Select the photo below to see more.
