UK and Europe Roadtrip - Rayleigh

We drove passed Canvey Island which is drained land that early settlers created using techniques learned in Holland. Our next stop was Rayleigh where the Church of the Holy Trinity caught our eye. The stone for the tower is believed to have come from Rayleigh Castle, thanks to Richard II in 1394 who allowed the people of Rayleigh to carry away stone for repairs to the church and building of a belfry.
