Calgary to Banff - Alberta Canada

Our friends live in the city of Airdrie, only 3 km north of the Calgary City limits. Most of the suburbs look pretty much like this -- everything is very neat and orderly. I guess it is easy to keep the grass and plants under control in this climate as opposed to Brisbane with rain, humidity, higher temperatures which are perfect for lots of growth. If you drive along the highway in Queensland, the trees are 'messy' (typically eucalypts and random bushes) with uncontrolled grass growing wildly along the road edges. In Alberta, everything is neat and trimmed and orderly (typically the forests are matching pine trees and low cut grass along road edges). Most people make a big effort in summer to have neat gardens of flowers because in winter you get nothing but white snow. Here is the back verandah in winter.
