Yoho National Park, British Columbia

We set up camp at the base of Kicking Horse Pass at Monarch Camp Ground with Mt Stephen in front of us and Mt Wapta behind us. The view from the campground  was pretty impressive. We watched as a freight train went under the avalanche tunnels and in and out of another short tunnel through the mountain in front of us. In summer it was a rock avalanches they had to worry about but in winter it would be the snow avalanches that were the problem. This night was the coldest one of our 6 week trip through Alaska and Canada. We layered up inside our RV, The Empress, sipping coffee while it drizzled on and off with rain outside. We didn't mind as we had been pretty lucky up until now with the weather and it certainly hadn't slowed us down.
