Cruise Skagway to Sitka- Alaska

The track passed over the river to the area of an historical battle between the indigenous people and the newly arrived Russians.We surprised an eagle and its young returning to the nest with a 40cm fish in its claws. It was so surprised that it dropped the fish which missed us by a couple of metres. The parent eagle seemed to almost push the babies (bigger than their parents) off the branch to force it to fly away from us dangerous hunters I guess! A very close encounter with the wildlife! The parent eagle waited in the tree until we left before retrieving its fish.
