The Gjirokastër Fortress, built in the 1100s, sits high above town on a ridge overlooking what was once an important trade route. It has fortified walls, a clock tower, a church and military exhibits. It is overcast and gloomy after the storm which makes it more interesting somehow. Select the photo below to see more.
