UK and Europe Roadtrip - Brussels

The Jacquemart Carillon built into the arch of Mont des Arts is intriguing. The Jacquemart is a 2.8m high bronze sculpture that stands on top of the arch wearing his top hat and ringing his great bell as the clock strikes each quarter hour. The carillon was built in 1964 at the Palais de la Dynastie. Around the starshaped clockface are 12 of Brussels' important historical figures set into niches and under them are 11 of the bells.
