Gantheaume Point was named in 1801 for Joseph Gantheaume, by Nicolas Baudin during a French expedition to map the coast of Australia. I wonder if these interesting rock formations looked like this back then. They have been caused by the different rates of erosion of the coloured bands of sandstone .
