Bundaberg - Mon Repos Turtle Rookery - Queensland

There were flocks of black cockatoos in the Mon Repos Beach area. They are very impressive black birds with striking red tail feathers. They are fairly wasteful and destructive of the casuarina trees as they bite through the branches. We made the mistake of parking under one on one night and woke to find the car covered in leaves, branches and seeds. Black Cockatoos can be found throughout Australia, but they are not very common.
