UK and Europe Roadtrip - Constance Cathedral

Constance Cathedral is recognised as a Romanesque basilica that was consecrated in 1089. It has a classic high altar that was rebuilt in the 1700s. Below right is one of the ornately decorated side chapel altars with marble base and columns, 12m high, and gilded artwork that is quite eye-catching. The shrine of St Constantia was brought from Rome in 1721and installed as part of this altar. Select the photo below to see one of the preserved frescoes uncovered during renovations.
