Kangaroo Island, South Australia

These limestone caves developed 500000 years ago in a compacted sanddune in a slightly unusual way. The nearby lagoon seeped water up into the dune and dissolved the limestone until it collapsed forming a cave. Then the water seeped through the roof of the cave to create these unusual calcite formations.
