Farewell Spit to Foxton Beach, New Zealand

As we saw when we camped on Takaka Hill, it was covered in cracks, caves and sinkholes which act as an underground drainage system. It is a 10 minute walk up to this point, the Riwaka Resurgence at the base of the Takaka Hill, where some of that rain water bubbles back out and forms the creek we had just walked alongside. This secluded little hideaway is well worth a visit and is of Maori significance. The water is pretty cold and although the crystal clear water of some of the pools looks inviting, it would have to be a pretty hot day to get me in there.  Select the photo below to see more of this area.
