Shark Bay, Peron Peninsula

You walk past the shell quarry on the way to Hamelin Bay. The tiny shells are the remains of the Cardiid Cockle which have been deposited here over the last 6000 years. A small amount of calcium carbonate from the shells dissolves in rainwater and dries to bind the shells together to make a type of limestone.
