South Burnett Region - Lake Somerset and Dam

The dam is on the Stanley River about 220km up from the mouth of the Brisbane River. Water is released from Somerset Dam to supplement Wivenhoe Dam. The water flows into the Brisbane River and to the Mt Crosby pumping station where the plant purifies the river water. It is then piped to Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich and Redcliffe. A lot of people use the picnic & BBQ areas along the lake.
