Tangalooma Resort, Moreton Island, SE Queensland

There are few places in the world that you can come to hand feed Bottlenose dolphins so we decided to book in for the dolphin feeding. The Tangalooma Dolphin Care and Research Program started in 1992 in conjunction with the University of Queensland to research dolphins in the wild. It varies each night how many and which dolphins choose to come in to interact with us. The 'feeding' is very controlled. We have to remove sunscreens and disinfect our arms before we can enter the water and we are limited to the number and type of fish that can be fed to them. It is important that these dolphins retain their natural instincts and remain wild.
