In Greek mythology, the 10 year Trojan War was a legendary conflict that was said to have taken place here around 1300BC. The poet and writer of the Iliad, Homer 800BC, tells the story of Greek soldiers hiding inside a giant wooden horse. Troy soldiers dragged it into the city as a gift to Athena.
