Fairbanks and Arctic Circle, Alaska

As soon as we landed, the local policeman arrived and of course Pete had a chat to him about life in Anaktuvuk. Less than 300 people live here and its name means place of caribou droppings in the native language of the Inupiat. Anaktuvuk Pass is a Nunamiut Eskimo community dependent upon subsistence activities. Alcohol is banned in the village.
