Fairbanks to Valdez, Alaska Canada Holiday

That was them off to their log cabin further up the Salcha River. The campground host told us that the rocky banks of the river will be covered in RVs this coming weekend for 4th July.
Another car (truck in US speak) arrived to launch a boat at 10:15pm. Alaskans don't bother sleeping in summer it seems. People we talked to today said that by winter they are ready to do nothing and appreciate the darkness to recover from go, go, going throughout summer! Another boat came in to launch at a quarter to 11 (quarter of 11 in US speak). Still light. The sun went down for two minutes yesterday according to some Elks (a fraternity of campers who have 'grounds' all over the states - we accidentally lobbed in to one of their campsites in Farbanks not realising). Did I mention I got sunburnt today? Yes, in Alaska - I didn't think I would need sunscreen here. We have been told it has only just become hot like this in the last couple of days. It is too hot for jeans and a long sleeved T Shirt during the day although that is fine for night - if you can call this night!
