Anchorage to Kenai Peninsula - Alaska

Time to head back to Anchorage and turn in our RV ready for the next stage of our trip. As we drove along Turnagain arm (Cook Inlet), we spotted the tidal bore we had heard about. As the tide builds up against the flow of the water it eventually wins the fight and moves in as a long wave across the inlet. It happens every day and takes over five hours for the bore to travel its course. Unfortunately we were seeing it at its lowest height but it gets up to a maximum height of 3 metres around the equinox! They say harbor seals often ride the tide into Turnagain Arm.
