Anchorage to Kenai Peninsula - Alaska

This is the Dead Forest. In the aftermath of the big earthquake of 1964, the land shifted vertically and the salt water rose and killed off many of the trees in the area. We were disappointed we didn't take photos of the Turnagain and Anchorage area when we first arrived before the haze set in. The mountains are spectacular but get lost in all this smoke. It was pleased to spot a Beluga whale off in the distance as we had heard they come into this inlet once the water gets deeper ie about half hour after the tidal bore rolls in.
