Boondooma Dam, Lake and Campgrounds, Queensland

The kids are more interested in being towed behind the boat and the dam is big enough to find a quiet spot away from everyone else. The water was cool in April but not too cold. The temperatures in the daytime were very comfortable but you needed a jumper and jeans at night around the fire. I imagine at Xmas it would be VERY hot at the lakeside campsite as there are few shady trees.
