Tasmania Roadtrip - Week 1 - Brisbane to Hellyer Beach |
Album 1 - We left Brisbane on Boxing Day knowing that there were bushfires throughout NSW and Victoria that we may have to avoid on the way south to Tasmania. We met up with Noel and Shirl for lunch beside the Richmond River before heading to our first campsite behind the Lawrence Tavern. The temperatures were soaring to heatwave conditions on our way to Melbourne so we welcomed swimming in both the Murray and Goulburn Rivers. We took the overnight Spirit of Tasmania ferry to Devonport and headed west along the northern coastline. Beautiful scenery and just as important, it was 15 degrees cooler! Highlights of this section of the trip were NY celebrations at Burnie, Scallop lunch at Boatharbour, little penguins, Table Cape and Rocky Cape National Park. Have a look at our Tasmania Route Map but don't forget to come back to see the photos. |
