Alaska and Canada Holiday

The Denali Nat Park Visitor Centre was excellent. After spending time there, we went to 'The Canyon' a couple of miles from the park entrance. Motels, restaurants, pubs and a variety of tourist shops and booking agents for flight seeing, river rafting, jet boating etc were jammed into this tiny town which only seems to exist in the summer. They all shut down and return to whichever town/country they came from during the winter months. There are only a handful of families left in winter in Healy 12 mile up the road. We did some shopping, had hot dogs for dinner at the Denali Dog House and the following morning we had breakfast at the famous Salmon Bakehouse (the Stampede Breakfast was reindeer sausages, eggs over easy with jack cheese and a couple of sides along with bottomless coffees of course).
