Valdez to Anchorage - Alaska

The salmon swam up this river past the hatchery where they were directed up a fish ladder into the hatchery then back out into Solomon Gulch before continuing upstream. The sea lion (looks like a log floating in the water here) just calmly swam up and ate a salmon when he felt hungry while the seagulls swarmed around for the remnants he left in the water. The water was a creamy glacial blue but we could still see the hundreds of salmon just below the surface seemingly hovering in the water acclimatising to the fresh after the saltwater before beginning the big move further upstream to spawn.
